Spencer Rushton: Looking to Beat the Odds

It may be hard to get noticed playing on an 0-7 team, but all you need to do is look at the film and it becomes clear as day… this kid can play.

Rushton has thrown for just a shade under 500 yards with three touchdowns in 2022. A drop-back passer, he can also run when pressured or when a play breaks down. He has carried the ball 59 times for 125 yards, which includes a scamper of 45 yards.

As for interest, Rushton recently received a letter from a Division 2 school and he was invited to attend a camp at Monmouth University for this off-season.

Rushton has put in the time and continues to push the limits on effort in order to be the best player he can be – attending USA Training Camp and the 2021 Next Level Culture7 on 7. Also a promising wrestler who saw limited time on the varsity team last winter, he is giving that up to focus on getting bigger as he pursues his goal of playing college ball.

Rushton runs the 40 in 4.89 and in the classroom he maintains a 3.7 average.

Scouting Report: "Undersized a bit at the moment, he has a year to grow and is determined to increase his strength. Rushton is a versatile quarterback who can run and throw. A drop-back passer, he can survey the field and has the ability to slide to either side to see a more clear field. He has shown ability to throw the quick out pass as well go down the field with a strong arm. When plays break down or the pressure becomes too heavy to stay in one place, he has the athletic ability to escape and take off down the field for positive yardage.''

Rushton is optimistic about his future as he remains confident in his abiliity and in his quarterback coach despite the team not winning.
