NJ Class of 2024 QB Jaiden Laureano Is Ready to Go Next Step with Cornwall in 2022
New Windsor, NY: To say it was a good year for the Cornwall Central Dragons in 2021 is probably accurate.
The Dragons went 5-0 in the New York Section 9A-Division 1 League, winning the title at a cantor. While the season ended at 9-1 for Cornwall, it also finished with a loss in the playoffs to division rivals Minisink Valley in a tight contest.
Class of 2024 Cornwall quarterback Jaiden Laureano wants to make sure his team goes another step or two in 2022, and maybe even further: to a New York state title.
The pieces are there for the Division 1 League power, and Laureano will hope he is able to help lead his team to glory. The 15-year-old is already 6-1, 210 pounds, and has been able to hone his skills in the Metro 7v7 league last summer. This offseason has seen Laureano continue to work hard in the weight room to add some more bulk and strength, and the fall could be a chance for the rising junior to shine.
In the classroom, Laureano already does just that, with a 3.5 GPA that is rising at the end of his sophomore second semester. His intelligence shows through on the field as well for Cornwall.
Here is a scouting report on the QB:
“Laureano has a big arm, and that is something that will improve over the next two years as he gets stronger. You can already see is going to get taller and stronger, and he really could have a breakout campaign in 2022.
“I always think it is interesting to find those players who are going to have breakouts before they do: anyone can go back and say ‘Yeah, I saw this coming.’ With Laureano, I think we can see what is coming: he is going to have a big junior year and put himself on the radar of coaches all over. This should be an exciting fall for Cornwall and Laureano.”
