Muhlenberg College Sophomore OLB/DB Raymond Vender Ready to Help Mules
Win D3 Title
Manalapan, NJ: Last year was another great year for the Muhlenberg College football team.
But it was very close to being a Perfect one, and sophomore OLB/DB Raymond Vender wants to help his team any way possible to ensure the Mules have a great campaign in 2022.
The Mules went 11-2 last fall and made it all the way to the Division 3 quarterfinals, before dropping a heartbreaking OT 35-29 contest to Mount Union. That came after two shutout performances in the first two rounds, which had Muhlenberg thinking National Championship.
It was not meant to be, though, and Vender is going to do his best to help his teammates and coaches ensure that the Mules go that one or two steps further in 2022.
It is not going to be easy, though: the Mules open on the road in Texas at defending national champion Mary Hardin-Baylor, in what will be a stern test before Centennial League play begins. Vender is looking to be pivotal to both the defense, and the special teams, as Muhlenberg looks to defend its league title. Coach Milne and his entire coaching staff have been instrumental in preparing their players to compete at such the high level that they have been and will not be taking their foot off the gas, anytime soon. Coach Milne has led his Mules to Centennial Conference Championship Titles for the last three years and this year shall be no different. The 2022 Captains that will be leading the charge of the Centennial Conference Champions, will be John Washington, Michael Feaster, Quentin Ogren and Owen Daddona. The Mules are ranked 11th entering the pre-season, following yet another national quarterfinal appearance. Their Superior Defense led by Coach Kory David will be looking to shut out their opponents and leave no doubt on why they are one of the Top Teams in the Nation. The Mules Offense and Special Teams plan to dismantle any team in their way of another Ring! Superb Coaching Staff, along with Elite players - equals what college football is all about! Muhlenberg is one of only three Division III teams to reach the national quarterfinals each of the last 3 seasons. Only Muhlenberg, Mary Hardin-Baylor and Wisconsin-Whitewater advanced to the D-III quarterfinals in 2018,2019 and 2021.The Mules record during that span is 35-5.
One of the big things that Vender was known for at Manalapan High School was causing
turnovers on defense and on special teams, and that will always make him a valuable player on any team: Vender was labeled as a Big Time Playmaker, who made some huge plays when his team needed them the most. His Muhlenberg coaches are counting on Vender to make some plays and change the field advantage in his college years as well. Ray’s HS stat sheets are full of aggressive plays, resulting in Forced Fumbles, Recoveries, Blocked Punts, Interceptions and Sacks.
Ray has been in the Lab working hard all summer at Sentinel Performance Strength with owner & amp; Head Trainer Collis Spann, where Vender has been training with NFL & College partners. Ray has also been doing his LB/DB field training with Coach Marco Recchia from Next Level Culture. There is no doubt at all, that Vender has been doing everything in his power to come into His Sophomore season at Muhlenberg as prepared, motivated and as ready as he can be !

“He is very quick and has added some bulk since he stepped on Muhlenberg’s campus. It is always a tough transition in that first year of college, but the sophomore year is when players usually make the breakthrough. I expect Ray to do just that this year as part of two very good units. He is going to make plays, I have no doubt. He is one of those players who is always around the ball, and that is very valuable at this level. I am excited to see what he can do for this very good team in 2022.”
