FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP HS PATRIOTS, NJ SOPHOMORE QB MARK AUGELLO IS BREAKING RECORDS AND TURNING HEADS

FREEHOLD, NJ – Mark Augello has put together back-to-back weeks that have solidified the 6’0” athlete as one of the top young QB’s in New Jersey to watch.

On Sept 24th, in a tight loss, Augello completed 28 passes in 43 attempts alongside 244 yards and 2 TDS. The 28 completions set a school record for the young QB and had him loaded with confidence heading into this past Friday’s matchup. On October 1st, Mark tore up Matawan High School, leading his team to a decisive victory. Augello came out hot with guns blazing, completing a whopping 75% of his passes (24 for 32 passing) for 407 yards (another new school record) and tied yet another record with 4 TD passes in a single game.

Augello is one of those athletes that leads on the field and in the locker room. He can damage and attack defenses with his legs or arm.

Freehold Township Line Coach Alex Mattina had this to say, “Mark showed he can stand well in the pocket and make great decisions. He viewed the field exceptionally well and made timely throws. He controlled the game, threw the ball accurately down the field and simply played a fantastic game.”

“I am lucky to have coached Mark back in the 5th grade,” said GoMVB analyst Pat Marzo excitedly. “The kids change so much by the time they get into High School, but anyone could see even back then as a 10-year-old, 5th grader that Mark is destined to be a player – period. He’s a tough kid – a smart kid, and he has a determination to win. Sometimes that doesn’t change! Friday night, as a high school sophomore, he performed exactly like he did back then. He put his team on his shoulders and simply guided them to victory. This is a player a coach wants on his team.”

Marzo went on to add, “I am pleased to see him throwing the ball so well, but everyone should understand, this player could be a dominant running back, receiver or defensive back. The young man can do it all.”

Freehold Township’s next contest is against Neptune (away). You can view Mark’s profile, stats and bio via this link: www.GoMVB.com/markaugello.
