Class of ‘23 High School Lacrosse Defender Colin Hughes Gets Ready for Big Senior Campaign

Last year, the Greenwich (NY) boys’ lacrosse team was 10-5, but the season ultimately ended in disappointment early in the New York playoffs.

Greenwich senior defender Colin Hughes wants to make sure his squad sticks around a little longer this Spring and picks up a couple pieces of silverware along the way.

Hughes, a 5-11, 195-pound defender who also plays for the Adirondack Mountain Men, picked up First Team Colonial Council honors after the 2022 Spring campaign. If he plays the way he did last year, he will be on that team again and probably All-Wasaren League.

Hughes has already picked up an offer from Felician University and has a bunch of schools interested like:

· Limestone University

· Cleary University

· Lewis University

· Lebanon Valley

· Virginia Wesleyan University

Hughes is also a star in the classroom, with a 3.6 GPA. He has been on the High Honor Roll in the Greenwich School District every year from 2017 to 2022, which includes all six of his semesters so far in high school. It is expected that streak will continue into 2023, and he will most likely increase his GPA ahead of his college choice.

“He is a very good defenseman for a pretty good high school team and a good travel squad. When you see him out there, the first thing you notice is his motor: he never stops moving when the ball is in their end of the field. He is strong as well: you can tell he is going to get stronger as well at the next level when he continues to add more muscle to his frame, which is already solid.

“I think he is going to make his coaches pretty happy at the next level when he picks his school. Hughes is a leader on and off the field, and you can never have too many of them.”
